A Completely Rotten Floor – Full Strip-Out Required
When we arrived, the existing timber floor was in severe condition. Rotten joists, damp intrusion, and decayed boarding made the room unsafe and unusable. The only option was a full rip-out down to the subfloor.
As the images show, once the boards and joists were removed, it became clear just how badly the damp had penetrated. This level of damage doesn’t just affect the floor—it risks the structural integrity of the room.
Installing the Correct Damp-Proofing System
To ensure the new floor lasts for decades, we installed:
The job involved:
A full damp-proof membrane (DPM) across the entire area
Damp-proofed beam ends, wrapped and protected to prevent future moisture penetration
Pressure-treated timber joists and noggins
Proper ventilation and spacing to maintain airflow beneath the structure
We don’t take shortcuts. Even on a smaller job like this, every detail matters.
A Strong, Safe, Brand New Floor
Once the structural work and damp-proofing were complete, we fitted the new joists, levelled the floor, and installed new flooring boards throughout.
The result?
A solid, safe, long-lasting new floor, ready for finishing by the developer.
